CORPORATE PHILOSOPHY

As we have grown into a large electrical construction organization over the past 40 years, we have developed a corporate philosophy that includes a cooperative approach in all phases of our business—whether it is with our customers or our employees. Our philosophical approach to business follows the teachings of Peter Drucker who believes that the three most important functions of management include: defining the purpose of the business, making work productive and the worker achievement-oriented, and managing the social impact and responsibilities of the business. The intended result is customer and employee satisfaction.

As such, both CEO Jimmy Yamada, Jr. and his son, President Jason Yamada have placed a great deal of emphasis on employee training and team building in order to ensure that the company philosophy is understood by everyone, from superintendents to field electricians. Organizationally, we devote ourselves to giving workers responsibility as well as feedback and training, and instituting controls in the work process which guarantee superior work.

Because we begin by defining the purpose of the business, our focus is on the customer and the customer's needs. Our customers include not only the developers and general contractors but the architects and electrical engineers as well. We work with each in a cooperative framework realizing that different needs demand different approaches. Thus, we realize that part of the definition of service or added value may entail accommodating schedule delays by working overtime and handling all problems with our eyes on the solution. We sum this philosophy up in a phrase: The Customer Defines the Business.
